About Me

During my childhood I loved nothing more than looking at maps and dreaming about all these amazing destinations the world has to offer. I was lucky enough to venture into Western Europe with my family and further to South Africa with school but it wasn’t until while at university that family circumstances changed and I could travel further afield for longer. This led to me moving to Malaysia to complete one year of my degree out there. During that year I started my travelling odyssey: I tried food I had never heard of, I camped in the rainforest and got bitten by leeches all night, I had my phone stolen and I went on 48 flights in a year! All on a tight student budget. It is the old cliché but that year changed me as a person and I surprised myself with what I achieved by far it was the best decision I ever made!

Since then I have also studied abroad in South Korea and China before recently heading back to Malaysia to set up a base in South East Asia. Now as I continue studying I hope to continue my explorations of my new home (Malaysia) and further afield.

Before I went travelling I use to think it wasn’t safe to go travelling solo, you had to have a limitless supply of money and I would never be able to manage 3 constant days of public transport in 40 degrees without a shower. Travelling has pushed my boundaries and has made me the person I am now.

What kind of blog is it?

I wanted to create this blog to show you the highs and lows of my traveling journey and hopefully you can avoid any of my mistakes. To encourage you to get the most value out of your traveling money and time; being a student most of the time I will be on a tight budget but sometimes to get the most from the experience I will have the odd splurge and as for anyone time is a precious commodity and I want to make sure I can experience all those destinations I dreamed off as a child. The site will also have lots of information on Malaysia (the easiest place for me to travel and often overlooked for the rest of South-East Asia) and study abroad.

Traveling is the best decision I have ever made and I hope you enjoy coming on that journey with me. If you have any questions or comments then please feel free to get in touch with me through the contact page or send me a tweet!

Thank you for visiting!
